Pre Care
Hydrate-electrolysis works best on well-hydrated skin.
Avoid stimulants--it's best to avoid caffeine before your treatment, as it may make you more sensitive to the procedure.
Hygiene- Please wash or bathe before treatment to remove any dirt or bacteria. Light moisturizer is ok to apply.
Shave or trim -3-5 days before the treatment, please shave or trim the area. This will allow us the right length to reach more hairs in less time. A hair length of a 1/4 inch is best (It may slow the treatment progress if the hairs are too short or too long) No plucking!
Pain reliever -Some people may benefit from taking an anti-inflammatory pain reliever an hour before their appointment.
Avoid direct sun--Cover and protect your skin from direct sunlight before electrolysis. Even a little sun can cause the treatment to be more painful and slow the healing. Keep in mind, that we cannot treat sun-burned skin and will have to reschedule. (cancellations shorter than 24 hours in advance may incur a charge)
Numbing Cream-For sensitive individuals you can purchase Lidocaine numbing cream or you can ask your doctor to prescribe a prescription numbing cream that you can apply before your treatment to help with any discomfort. We can discuss this in more detail at your consultation.
Don't Touch!--After treatment, your pores are open and need time to heal. Touching, scratching, or picking at the treated area can introduce bacteria and cause redness, swelling, or infection. Small scabs are nature's band-aids, so leave them--picking can cause a permanent scar.
Avoid Heat and soaking--Don't do a heavy workout or sit in a hot tub or sauna immediately after treatment. This may increase redness and swelling. The area should not be flooded with water for the first 24 hours. Use a clean cloth or take a quick shower. Witch hazel and pure aloe vera gel are ok to use.
People's reactions differ - Depending on what area was treated, it's recommended that you do not apply makeup, or use body, or hair products, for at least 24 hours after a treatment. Apply ice if you have swelling.
Avoid direct sunlight for at least 24 hours or longer after treatment. Remember always to use sunscreen.
